World Heritage Site Status
Frequently Asked Questions.
What are the boundaries for the Site?
The World Heritage Site runs from the end of the sea front at Exmouth (GR SY018797) to the southern end of Studland Bay, GR SZ 043824) excluding the built-up sea fronts at Sidmouth, Seaton, Lyme Regis, West Bay, parts of Portland Harbour, Weymouth and Swanage. The areas between these towns are almost exclusively protected as Sites of Special Scientific Interest, designated by Natural England. The Site runs from the low water mark (except on Portland and in East Devon) to the break in slope at the top of the cliff, (with a few exceptions). The SSSI boundaries can be viewed on Natural England's 'Nature on the Map' web site at: http://www.natureonthemap.org.uk/map
