Charmouth Fossil Festival Sat 3 & Sun 4 May 2008

Event :

New Ammonite Graveyard to be uncovered at Charmouth!

Join the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre and Darrell Wakelam (local artist and sculptor) in the recreation of an ammonite graveyard during Charmouth's Fossil Festival on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th May.

Go along to the festival marquee on the beachfront where both adults and children can learn how to make ammonite sculptures, which can either be added to the graveyard or taken home.

Other activities include guided fossil hunting walks, ammonite slice polishing, the Jurassic Coast Team's Fossil Dig - and lots more to see and do besides. All events are free of charge, but booking for the walks is essential as places are limited.

The Festival runs on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th May 2008 with events running from 10.00am - 4.30pm on both days.

Details of the programme are on the Centre's website at  www.charmouth.org or pick up a leaflet at a tourist information centre near you, or contact the Warden team at the Centre for further details on tel 01297 560772
