When a phone call came through from Records Management Unit, Dorset County Council, asking ‘Have you got any jobs on the coast for 10 people who want to undertake a volunteers day?' the answer was easy.

Living in Swanage I am a regular visitor to Chapman's Pool, as one of the lovelier if less accessible spots on Purbeck's stretch of the Jurassic Coast.  Following negative coverage in the local press accompanied by a photograph of the rubbish which had accumulated in the bay over the last few months, a member of the public contacted the Jurassic Coast Team to ask if anything could be done.

Global interest in our World Heritage Site

The Jurassic Coast has been attracting a huge amount of interest from the wider world.  At the end of September alone, we have had experts from Northern Ireland, Spain (the Basque Country) and Vietnam visiting our coast, meeting people involved in sustainable development and talking to the team.

Following an exhausting weekend running around events and installations at Weymouth which marked the launch of the Cultural Olympiad, sundown on the 28th September 2008 saw me excitedly awaiting the start of the first performance that I have had some involvement in developing in the Jurassic Coast Arts Programme since coming into post as the Arts Co-ordinator.
