Opportunity: Weymouth and Portland Borough Council (WPBC) in partnership with the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site Team - supported by the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA), are carrying out a project to enlarge and develop the Chesil Beach Centre, a visitor and interpretation centre adjacent to the Fleet on the coast of Dorset.
The project development process is coordinated by WPBC's Project Management Consultant.

The proposals for the redevelopment of the Centre meet two particular needs:
The need to develop and strengthen the economic viability of the centre and the need to improve the quality of the interpretation with particular reference to the story of the whole Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site (JCWHS).
Specifically, there is considerable potential to integrate further with other JCWHS interpretation centres, including signposting visitors to other parts of the WHS, especially in the context of Chesil's proximity to the 2012 games sailing venue.
In preparation for major capital funding applications to the Heritage Lottery Fund, SWRDA, Charitable Trusts and the Landfill Communities Fund, there is a need to commission the following:
Audience Development Plan (completion deadline: 6th June '08)
Education plan (completion deadline: 6th June '08)
Interpretation plan (completion deadline: 6th June '08)
Training and Volunteer Development plan (completion deadline: 6th June '08)
These plans will then inform the production of a Business plan (completion deadline: 25th July '08)
A brief for each plan is available from Gareth Jones tel: 01305 838476 and quotations are invited for each of the 5 plans, either as a package of work, as single pieces of work, or to subcontract if appropriate.
The deadline for receipt of quotations is 15th February.
