Charmouth is a Gateway Town to the Jurassic Coast.

Charmouth is a quiet seaside hamlet where time has stood still - the perfect location for a relaxing holiday. It is the best place along the Jurassic Coast to look for fossils.

The village has a small selection of local shops, pubs that serve good food, as well as various hotels and restaurants.

Charmouth is right in the heart of fossil hunting country.  The large shingle beach and the Heritage Coast Centre on the seafront are wonderful for those interested in fossils and the local natural history.  Guided walks along the coastline can be booked from here.

The South West Coast Path runs through Charmouth (it is however currently diverted due to erosion problems, see the news section for updates) and there are many other attractive routes for walkers both along the coast and inland to the pretty Dorset and East Devon countryside.  An invigorating walk will take you to the attractive village of Burton Bradstock in the east or follow the South West Coast Path west to Lyme Regis.
