Bridport is a small market town with a warm welcome and a world renowned rope and net making industry.

The streets in Bridport are among the widest in the country. Lively street markets have been held there for over 400 years and are still taking place every Wednesday and Saturday.

Palmers Brewery, on the south side of the town, is Britain's oldest thatched brewery.  It houses some beautiful, fully functional, Victorian brewing equipment.  Guided tours offer a fascinating insight into all aspects of the traditional brewing process as well as the production of Palmers famous 'Golden Cap Whisky' and even includes a tasting session.

The Bridport Museum tells the unique history of the town, from Roman times and togas to the Second World War.  Discover more about the world-famous rope and net-making industries - including what it meant to be 'stabbed with a Bridport dagger' - and who it was that made the 1966 World Cup goal nets.

Getting There

By Road:  From the Midlands take the A34 towards Winchester. Follow the M27, then the A31 to Ringwood. Join the A35 to Dorchester and head west towards Bridport. Follow the signposts for West Bay.
