If you plan to visit the Jurassic Coast by car, it is a good idea to familiarise yourself with the best routes available in advance of setting out, as the roads (especially during peak holiday times) do get busy.
East Devon
From the M5 the East Devon section of the Site is serviced by the A3052 providing access to all Gateway towns from Sidmouth To Lyme Regis. Exmouth is serviced by the A376. The B3178 links Exmouth to Budleigh Salterton. The network of smaller county lanes is ideal for the cyclist, who can also make use of Bridleways. The Coast Path is open to walkers only.
West Dorset
From Lyme Regis the A3052 joins the A35 at Charmouth. This road continues to Bridport. From Bridport the delightful B3157 offers excellent views of the Coast from Devon in the west to Portland in the East.
Purbeck
From Poole the A351 to Wareham feeds into the A352 from which many smaller B roads allow access to the site.
