The team at Lulworth Heritage Centre, based at Lulworth Cove, is creating a new social history display this winter and is looking for old photographs of the village and villagers of West Lulworth. The new display will give visitors to the Centre a unique insight to the local village and past ways of life in rural Dorset.
The Centre, which is visited by around 300,000 a year, is open daily and is free to enter. It currently hosts informative exhibitions on the geology and the ancient history of the area and the photographic history display will be part of an ongoing project to review and expand the displays.
We are particularly looking for photographs of people in the themes of:- village buildings, agriculture, school life, tourism, boats and fishing up to the 1970’s. For example, have you been to Lulworth on holiday? Were you photographed outside the pub or rowing a boat? Was a relative in the local football team? Or did you go to school or work here?
If you have any photos and are willing to share them with us, we will be able to scan the images and in return send you a digital copy. You keep the original! Please contact us on 01929 400155 if you can help.
Your contribution will be gratefully appreciated and form part of an interesting and nostalgic display for all to come and see.
