Cliff falls

Rock falls are common all year around. Take care when you visit the beach.

Cliffs are dangerous places, due to their nature they can collapse at any time, all through the year. Cliffs often have large cracks or fissures in them so that blocks may fall away without warning. These pictures show a very dramatic column of rock that fell in the Easter holidays at Charmouth. It is rare for a cameraman to be able to capture such images. Adrian Adams, the photographer, was in the right place at the right time. Pictures are copyright Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre.

Do not sit directly under cliffs or climb on them to find fossils.
