Win the opportunity to leave a lasting reminder of what Durlston means to
you or someone close to you.
Durlston is a real gem on the Dorset coast. Few places in Britain are
richer in wildlife, while its geological interest makes it a key location
on the Jurassic Coast. Local stone merchant George Burt left a unique
legacy of the Victorian age at Durlston with the Great Globe and Castle.
A massive £4.85 million has already been pledged towards the Project but a
further £1 million has yet to be raised. Durlston: the Appeal was recently
launched to raise the remaining £1 million required to make the
transformation of Durlston Castle a reality.
As part of the appeal, we are offering members of the public the chance to
purchase a specially designed block of Purbeck stone, engraved with words
of your choice, which will eventually form the ?Walk of Words? in the
Castle garden. This is a rare chance to leave a lasting reminder of what
Durlston means to you or someone close to you.
However, we have six Walk of Words blocks to give away (three blocks to
under 16s, three for adults) to the best words, phrase or description that
describes why Durlston is so special to you. Entries should be no more
than 48 characters, including spaces.
For an entry form please email Kirstie Snow at k.snow@dorsetcc.gov.uk or
telephone 01305 225037. Please send completed entries to - Walk of Words
Competition, The Environment Directorate, County Hall, Dorchester DT1 1XJ.
Closing date is 31 December 2007, include your contact details and age if
under 16.
