‘Rock around the Coast', the popular series of guided walks spanning the entire 95-mile length of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, is returning for a second summer.

The 14 walks give local people and visitors the chance to explore the beauty of the Dorset and east Devon coast - and the 185 million years of Earth history in its rocks - from one end to the other.

The walks will run every Saturday throughout the summer, starting in Exmouth on 29 May and finishing in Studland on 28 August. Each leg will be led by a different expert guide, offering a great opportunity to learn about the Jurassic Coast and the people who work to preserve and promote this amazing World Heritage Site.

The route of each walk follows the South West Coast Path National Trail, with each leg starting where the last one finished. In this way it gives people an opportunity to explore part or all of the Jurassic Coast.

The dates and routes for each walk are:

29 May           Exmouth to Budleigh Salterton

5 June            Budleigh Salterton to Sidmouth

12 June          Sidmouth to Branscombe

19 June          Branscombe to Seaton

26 June          Seaton to Lyme Regis

3 July             Charmouth to West Bay

10 July           West Bay to Abbotsbury

17 July           Abbotsbury to the Chesil Visitors Centre

24 July           Portland coast circular

31 July           Weymouth to Lulworth Cove

7 August         Lulworth Cove to Kimmeridge Bay

14 August       Kimmeridge Bay to Worth Matravers

21 August       Worth Matravers to Durlston Country Park

28 August       Swanage to Studland

Bookings for any of these walks can be made by calling the Purbeck Information and Heritage Centre on 01929 552740. For more information, email walks@jurassiccoast.com or go to the What's On Guide

Each walk costs £5 per adult. Children under 14 and Jurassic Coast Trust members go free.

The walks are run by a partnership of 11 organisations, visitor centres and groups in Dorset and east Devon. The funds raised by ‘Rock around the Coast' will help support conservation and education projects along the Jurassic Coast.
