The Jurassic Coast Trust sponsored Global Citizens: Olympic Dreams, a pilot project investigating the relationship between UNESCO World Heritage and the Olympic movement, using field visits by four Dorset schools, to the Jurassic Coast and Weymouth - the venue for the 2012 Olympic Sailing events - to explore global citizenship, friendship and adventure through the medium of digital photography with artist Esther Yarnold.

James Weld, Chairman of The Jurassic Coast Trust said "This has been a wonderful opportunity for children from local schools to become aware of the Olympic Movement and World Heritage Sites, and to learn the international significance of their cultural and natural heritage and the importance of enhancing both, now and for many generations into the future."

The schools; Beaucroft Special School Wimborne, St James CE VC First School Wimborne, Downlands Primary School Blandford Camp and Blandford St Mary CE VA Primary School Blandford, took part in trips to the Weymouth and Portland coastline where they took photographs of their experiences and explored themes surrounding being a Global Citizen.

Dr Anjana Khatwa Jurassic Coast Education Coordinator for the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Team⁴ said "As part of the project looking at the links between World Heritage and the Olympic movement, pupils from Beaucroft School in Wimborne, Dorset explored the experiences that tourists will have when they visit Weymouth and Portland for the 2012 Olympic Sailing Events."

Follow up workshops led by Esther Yarnold created a collection of new work from all the pupils, to go on public display, which includes photography, mixed media and writing. The Global Citizens Exhibition goes on display at Blandford Library from 26^th February to 25^th March and Wimborne Library from 25^th March to 28^th April.
